The Electric Picture Palace was opened by Michael Palin in May 2002. It is named after the first Southwold cinema which began to operate in 1912 (in York Road where the Surgery now stands) and follows the style of this period. It has 66 authentic cinema seats, a box office, kiosk, circle, organ, air-conditioning, etc.

Programme
The Electric Picture Palace shows films in 'Seasons' throughout the year (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Seasons), with a short break in between each Season. The Season programme is only made public once the Southwold Film Society members have had their chance to book whatever seats they require. Until then no programme is displayed. If you are not a member (£5 per year), nor are able to come as a guest of a member, not to worry as membership is available just for the Season (£2). Membership entitles you to bring a limited number of guests. Contact Box Office for details.

THE SOUTHWOLD FILM SOCIETY
The Southwold Film Society tries to capture the essential atmosphere of traditional British cinema-going showing classic films old and new. It is a registered charity (No. 1080324) and is run by volunteers. Any operating cash surplus will be used for the charitable aims which include local film-making. New members welcome.
